Join us for another episode of Librarian Chat with Tremain Jackson & Alyssa Crow. For this episode, we found a list online that we thought would be a great talking point, with the Top 10 Annoying Responses You Get When You Tell Someone You're in Library School. We wanted to see what made the cut and give you our thoughts on it. Join us for that, and other random musings from your social public librarians!

This week on Librarian Chat, hosts Tremain Jackson & Alyssa Crow sat down with the Lib-Con committee at the library, who talked to us about the mini-convention we're hosting at the library this month for all who love anime, manga, comics, superheroes, and more. Hear more about it, and get additional information at our Lib-Con Website at http://www.abilenetx.com/apl/LibCon/index.html. Plus, we may have got sidetracked during the second half with discussing Doctor Who, Star Trek, superheroes, My Little Pony and more...you never know what you're going to get on Librarian Chat!!!

On this episode of Librarian Chat with Tremain & Alyssa, we sit down to talk with our new City Librarian Lori Grumet, who has been with the Abilene Public Library since this past winter. Get to know a little about her and how she ended up in Abilene to head our library system...plus, be prepared from some random conversations. That's how we like to do it on Librarian Chat!

Librarians Tremain Jackson & Alyssa Crow return to dish more about our lives as librarians in an evolving public library landscape. For this episode, we're dishing on the latest releases for the day, customer service training, telling you about our available survey online, discussing upcoming book-to-film adaptations, and dispelling the notion that all we do is librarians is sit and read all day long...if only. Check out the episode and leave us a comment if you have questions for us.

take it with you

Iphone_trans Listening to podcasts on your mobile devices is extremely convenient -- and it's what makes the podcasting medium so powerful.

You can take your favorite shows and mixes with you anywhere, but to do so requires some quick and simple steps.

Let's walk you through that process together.
step 1:

Click the "Subscribe With iTunes" link in the page's sidebar:

Subscribe_with_itunes

This will require that you have the iTunes software on your computer.

(You can download iTunes here.)
step 2:
Itunes_ss

Now that you've subscribed to the podcast on iTunes, the feed will display in your "Podcasts" section on the left navigation bar.

Click there and you'll see the show displayed in the iTunes browser.

You can "get all" to download all available episodes or just individual episodes.
step 3:

Plug your mobile device (iPhone, iPad, iPod) into your computer with the Dock Connector cable, and click the device in iTunes's left navigation bar.

Itunes_ss2

Once you have your device highlighted, click "Podcasts" in the top navigation bar and sync the podcasts you want on your device. Click "apply" and the episodes you have downloaded on your iTunes software will sync with your device.
that's it!

The beauty of this process is that now, every new episode of your subscribed podcasts will automatically sync to your device every time you plug it in and open iTunes. You can now take your favorite shows with you everywhere you go.

Enjoy!
done!
